The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute is one of the world’s premier centers for comprehensive cardiovascular care. In October, UPMC Western Maryland celebrated its 5,000th open-heart surgery, thanks to the skill and expertise of Dr. Mark Nelson and his surgical team.
